Pilates for Posture and Balance
The Jewish Federation of the Berkshires will present "Pilates for Posture and Balance," with movement therapist Karen Lee. Cost $3.
With all levels of her technique able to be done either standing or in a chair, Lee noted that her program will give lessons for life regarding how to sit up, stand up, and live life to its fullest. Working from the spine, Lee will introduce movements of the vertebrae and explain how flexibility, range of motion, and strength may be improved, with breathing and balance as key components in her life-changing system based on the repertoire developed by Joseph Pilates.
Lee has been teaching and dancing for over three decades. Beginning on Broadway and continuing with a decade at Canyon Ranch, she has followed as the 12 year proprietor of "Pilates Central" studios in Lenox, Great Barrington, and Nantucket. A graduate in sociology and dance from Hunter College, she boasts a wide range of experience in the arts including as a therapist, artist, actress, author, and burlesque dancer.
