When most people hear the term “Jewish Caroling,” their first thoughts turn to the many
Christmas carols written by Jews. Hevreh’s Rabbi Emerita Deborah Zecher’s Jewish Caroling
cabaret has a very different focus; this show celebrates the work of Carole King, Carole Bayer
Sager, and Carolyn Leigh, extraordinary songwriters who are all Jewish women, sharing (more
or less) the same first name. Jewish Caroling had its debut at the famed Don’t Tell Mama in
New York City in December 2021.
