PJ LIBRARY COORDINATOR (PART-TIME)
PJ Library is a nationally recognized, award-winning initiative that engages Jewish families and communities by providing free Jewish children's books to families with children from birth through age 12. In addition to book distribution, PJ Library offers high-quality, inclusive, and accessible Jewish experiences that help families connect with Jewish values and traditions, as well as one another.
Position Summary: The PJ Library Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the local administration of PJ Library book subscriptions and developing inclusive, engaging programming for families raising Jewish children. This role fosters community-building and strengthens connections between families and the broader Jewish community in the Berkshires. This position reports to the Director of Community Engagement and Programming.
Responsibilities:
- Build and sustain meaningful relationships with PJ Library families.
- Design and implement engaging monthly programs and other opportunities to share Jewish values and foster connection among families.
- Provide administrative support for local PJ Library book subscriptions in coordination with the national office.
- Assist in the planning and execution of larger community events that include young families.
- Develop outreach strategies to connect with and welcome new families into the PJ Library community.
- Produce and manage a monthly newsletter and other communications to keep families informed and engaged.
- Oversee social media and other marketing efforts to promote PJ Library books, events, and initiatives.
- Foster collaboration with community partners to enhance program reach and impact.
- Ensure compliance with all grant and reporting requirements from the Harold Grinspoon Foundation.
Qualifications:
- Exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal, written, and social media communication abilities
- Highly organized with keen attention to detail
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative
- Familiarity with Jewish values, traditions, and culture
- Knowledge of the Federation system and the broader Jewish community
- Experience working in education with children, youth, and/or families
- Technical skills, including proficiency in Excel, email marketing software, and Canva
- Proficiency in social media platforms, particularly Instagram and Facebook
- Creative, adaptable, and flexible in approach
20 flexible hours per week. The hourly wage is commensurate with experience. The role includes a generous paid holiday and sick leave package, as well as participation in the annual PJ Library Professional Conference. Ongoing professional development and support are provided through PJ Library’s national network.
