Jewish Literary Voices: A Jewish Federation of the Berkshires Series in collaboration with the Jewish Book Council

Join in a virtual interactive community study led by Rabbi Barry Block, editor of The Social Justice Torah Commentary, in conversation with Rabbi Liz P.G. Hirsch and Rabbi Rachel Barenblat on the timely question: What does the Torah have to say about social justice?

As the contributors to The Social Justice Torah Commentary demonstrate, a great deal. A diverse array of authors delve deeply into each week's parashah, drawing lessons to inspire tikkun olam. Chapters address key contemporary issues such as racism, climate change, mass incarceration, immigration, disability, women's rights, voting rights, and many more. The result is an indispensable resource for weekly Torah study and for anyone committed to repairing the world.  Rabbi Liz Hirsch, one of the chapter authors, will teach from her text and Rabbi Rachel Barenblat will offer additional responses.

Rabbi Barry H. Block serves Congregation B'nai Israel in Little Rock, Arkansas. A Houston native and graduate of Amherst College, Rabbi Block was ordained by Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York in 1991, and he received his DD, honoris causa, in 2016.

Purchase the book here and a portion of the proceeds will be donated back to the local bookstore in Great Barrington.

This program of the Jewish Federation of the Berkshires is presented in collaboration with the Jewish Book Council and Berkshire County congregations.
