The Jewish Federation Connecting with Community presents "The Life and Theater Art of Moises Kaufman, a Gay, Orthodox Jew from Venezuela." This multimedia program introductory remarks about Kaufman and Jews in Venezuela and South America will be with Peter Podol. A film screening will follow about the life of Moises Kaufman, concluding with a performance by Peter; a monologue by Kaufman about his family beginning with his grandmother who fled the pogroms in Ukraine in 1937 and went to Venezuela.
Peter is a Spanish professor emeritus who now works as an interpreter at BMC. He is also a local actor who recently performed a series of monologues dealing with violence against women.
This free program is part of the Federation’s Connecting With Community Series and will be followed by a kosher hot lunch. Lunch is a $2 suggested donation for adults over 60 years of age or $7 for all others. Advance reservations are required for lunch and can be made by calling (413) 442-2200 before 9 a.m. on the day of the program.
