The Jewish Federation Connecting with Community presents "The Interaction Between Hearing and Balance" with Dr. Andrew Puttick, audiologist and owner of Greylock Audiology and FYZICAL Therapy and Balance and Dr. Trevor Marcotte, vestibular therapist.
Drs. Puttick and Marcotte will discuss hearing and balance and how these two "senses" work together. They will explain vestibular therapy and how it keeps people from falling. With gradual changes in hearing, our ability to maintain balance and avoid falling is affected. Learn how physical therapy, specifically vestibular therapy, can improve your balance at any age.
Dr. Puttick is a state licensed audiologist with a clinical certificate of competency in Audiology. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Vermont, his Master of Arts from the University of Massachusetts, and his Doctorate of Audiology from Salus University.
A Berkshire County native, Dr. Marcotte is a graduate of Springfield College's Doctor of Physical Therapy program. He has extensive training in vestibular disorders and balance rehabilitation, but is also trained in more traditional physical therapy, including orthopedic and athletic injury rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitations, orthopedic spine and medically-based fitness.
This free program is part of the Federation’s Connecting With Community Series and will be followed by a kosher hot lunch. Lunch is a $2 suggested donation for adults over 60 years of age or $7 for all others. Advance reservations are required for lunch and can be made by calling (413) 442-2200 before 9 a.m. on the day of the program.
