Born in a small Russian village, Marc Chagall rose to become one of the most famous and influential artists of his day.  His paintings are filled with fantastic imagery: lovers flying over cities, animals with human faces, people turning into violins, musicians leaping over rooftops.  Yet despite his many sources of inspiration, his Jewish roots, he said, were always his truest guide: “If I were not Jewish I never would have become an artist.”   Join an immersive discussion of Chagall’s art of “Love and War through Yiddish Eyes” with Dr. Linda Burghardt, Scholar-in-Residence at the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center in New York.

Dr. Burghardt is a scholar, author and journalist who holds a Ph.D. from Long Island University and has been a summer resident of the Berkshires for many years.
