The Jewish Federation Connecting with Community presents "Spiritual Guidance from the Plant Kingdom."
With Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur on the horizon, Jon Greenberg, PhD, teacher, author and botanist, will share how plant metaphors in Biblical stories can help to chart a way through our taking stock of our successes and failures over the last year.
We'll learn stories of the revolt of the trees, Jonah and the castor bean, the woman who plucked pomegranates from the Red Sea, and a poisonous weed that replaced lettuce on a medieval German Passover table.
This free program is part of the Federation’s Connecting With Community Series and will be followed by a kosher hot lunch. Lunch is a $2 suggested donation for adults over 60 years of age or $7 for all others. Advance reservations are required for lunch and can be made by calling (413) 442-2200 before 9 a.m. on the day of the program.
