The Jewish Federation Connecting with Community, in collaboration with Jewish Family Services of Western MA, will screen the film Salam Neighbor.  This documentary concentrates on five Syrian refugees while also reflecting the shared stories among the 65 million refugees around the globe.

In trying to depict the humanity of the crisis, Salam Neighbor seeks to reflect the reality of life in a refugee camp.  In telling the stories of their neighbors, the filmmakers also offered a look into how camp life affected the refugees, both good and bad.

Another issue covered in the film is the role of host countries and how refugees are affected by the constraints host countries face with a large influx of people escaping war.

Maxine J. Stein, President and CEO, Jewish Family Service of Western MA and/or Deirdre Griffin, JD, New American Program Director, will be in attendance for a Q and A.

This free program is part of the Federation’s Connecting With Community Series and will be followed by a kosher hot lunch. Lunch is a $2 suggested donation for adults over 60 years of age or $7 for all others.
