The Jewish Federation of the Berkshires will host Al Bashevkin, Executive Director of the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition, who will speak about the various initiatives of the organization which provides forums for community issues.  The Coalition has worked with neighborhood leaders to foster dialogue at the neighborhood level.  They have worked with youth to create a non-competitive forum through UNITY and have helped young people capture the exciting opportunities in the arts that are happening here through the CommUNITY Arts Program.  They focus on prevention of social problems including child maltreatment, domestic violence, or substance abuse.  The mission of the Coalition is to improve the quality of life for people in Northern Berkshire county by organizing, supporting and empowering the community.
