The Jewish Federation of the Berkshires presents:
Knosh & Knowledge Jewish Literacy: Seeking Out New Frontiers
with author and gallery owner, Richard Michelson

Richard Michelson, noted children's literature author, will share stories about his friendship with the late actor Leonard Nimoy and his own Jewish identity journey.

The long road to publication of Richard Michelson's latest book, Fascinating: The Life of Leonard Nimoy will be the focus of this program.  Michelson will talk about how Jewish picture books spread Jewish values and raise the "next generation." He will explore the universe of children's literature, and narrate his own journey from uninformed atheist to someone whose books are being used to advance Jewish literacy.

Michelson is the only author in the 48 year history of The Association of Jewish Librarians to receive both their Sydney Taylor Gold and Silver Medals in a single year.  Michelson is a three-time finalist for the MA Book Award and the National Jewish Book Award.

Michelson is the owner of R. Michelson Galleries in Northampton, MA where he recently served two terms as Poet Laureate.  He is the recipient of a 2016 MA Cultural Council Fellowship in Poetry.
