The Jewish Federation of the Berkshires presents:
Knosh & Knowledge
Interreligious Illiteracy
Terry Schmitt, Executive Director of the Connecticut Council for Interreligious Understanding will discuss the challenge of religious illiteracy and our seeming struggle to share open conversations around sensitive topics.
Schmitt runs the state-wide organization that has representation from nine religious traditions. Their efforts are to increase religious literacy and understanding, particularly among young people, in order to increase tolerance for each other, as well as to help us put world events into a fuller perspective.
He is a leader with experience in scholarly, religious, non-profit, civic, and political management and governance. An engaging public speaker with experience in television, radio, and personal appearances, he has a track record of collaborative leadership. Dr. Schmitt received his undergraduate degree from Brown University and his PhD from Yale.
Program only is free. $11 includes lunch following program. Advanced reservations are required by Thursday, October 18 before noon by calling 413-442-4360, ext. 10 or federation@jewishberkshires.org
