The Jewish Federation Connecting with Community will screen the film Freedom on my Mind, a 1994 feature documentary that tells the story of the Mississippi voter struggles of 1961 to 1964. This era was characterized by violence against the people involved, including multiple instances of murder.

This film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, won that year's Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary, and was noiminated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.  This film is being screened to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Film will begin at 10:45am, break at noon for lunch, and continue at 12:30pm to completion.

This free program is part of the Federation’s Connecting With Community Series and will be followed by a kosher hot lunch. Lunch is a $2 suggested donation for adults over 60 years of age or $7 for all others. Advance reservations are required for lunch and can be made by calling (413) 442-2200 before 9 a.m. on the day of the program.
