The Jewish Federation Connecting with Community presents "Helping Women and Children Survive in the Toughest Places: A Doctors Without Borders Midwife Reports."

In May 1968, a group of young doctors decided to go and help victims of wars and major disasters.  This new brand of humanitarianism would reinvent the concept of emergency aid.  They were to become Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), known internationally in English as Doctors Without Borders.

Come and hear from Liza Ramlow, MSF, midwife, who has completed ten international assignments and will speak about helping women and children survive in parts of the world suffering from natural disasters, armed conflict and other violence, lack of access to health care and other challenges.

This free program is part of the Federation’s Connecting With Community Series and will be followed by a kosher hot lunch. Lunch is a $2 suggested donation for adults over 60 years of age or $7 for all others. Advance reservations are required for lunch and can be made by calling (413) 442-2200 before 9 a.m. on the day of the program.
