The Jewish Federation Connecting with Community presents "Cellblock Visions: Set Free in the Penitentiary, Part 2" with Phyllis Kornfeld.  Phyllis was invited back as her first program was so intriguing. She will continue where she left off.

Phyllis has been working directly with incarcerated men and women for 35 years, in all levels of security from county jail to death row, and around the country, providing the transformative experience of creating beautiful art.

Her presentation is a look at the powerful artwork, drawings, paintings and objects, created primarily by people she has worked with.  The art itself, and Kornfeld's experiences behind bars with the men and women who live there, deliver irrefutable evidence that people in prison have the same human potential for good and for evil as the rest of us.  Creativity, truth and goodness can be elicited just as violence can.

If you did not have the opportunity to attend part 1, please join us for part 2.

This free program is part of the Federation’s Connecting With Community Series and will be followed by a kosher hot lunch. Lunch is a $2 suggested donation for adults over 60 years of age or $7 for all others. Advance reservations are required for lunch and can be made by calling (413) 442-2200 before 9 a.m. on the day of the program.
