The Jewish Federation Connecting with Community presents "A Celebration of the High Holidays in Words and Music."  This joyous celebration ushering in the Jewish High Holidays will be presented by Steven J. Rubin, professor emeritus of international studies and former dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Adelphi University.  He will be accompanied by Cantor Amy Miller.

This program will include readings of well-known and lesser-known poems, stories, and memoirs - both secular and liturgical.  Works by such poets and writers as Marcia Falk, Marge Piercy, Sholom Aleichem, IL Peretz, Golda Meir, Elie Weisel, Chana Block, Emma Lazarus, and others will be recited and discussed.

This free program is part of the Federation’s Connecting With Community Series and will be followed by a kosher hot lunch. Lunch is a $2 suggested donation for adults over 60 years of age or $7 for all others. Advance reservations are required for lunch and can be made by calling (413) 442-2200 before 9 a.m. on the day of the program.
