Nigunim and zmiros are songs of devotion and praise, spiritual Hassidic-Jewish chants whose purpose is to induce a state of piety and ecstasy in both performer and listener. The Nigunim Trio - Lorin Sklamberg and Frank London, cofounders of the Klezmatics, and keyboardist Rob Schwimmer - perform original and traditional nigunim and zmiros drawn from the Belzer, Gerer, Lubavitcher, and Skulaner dynasties of the Hassidim, performed with a uniquely styled musical and spiritual imprint.
This event is part of Yidstock 2017: The Festival of New Yiddish Music.
YIDSTOCK 2017 is sponsored by WAMC Northeast Public Radio and The Marinus and Minna B. Koster Foundation.
