Following Shabbat morning services and kiddush lunch, Rabbi Serge Lippe will discuss the question of whether Jews believe in an afterlife. If human history has a beginning, does it have an end? While we live in this world, the Sages imagined that neither death nor the future was a barrier to resolving personal or historical matters. These and a plethora of other peculiar questions and affirmations will be part of our journey through the concept of Olam ha-Ba, the World-to-Come.
Rabbi Serge A. Lippe has served as the much-loved spiritual leader and teacher of the Brooklyn Heights Synagogue since 1997. He has served as a member of the Reform Movement’s Joint Commission on Worship, Music, and Religious Living and is the editor of Birkon Artzi: Blessings and Meditations for Travelers to Israel (CCAR, 2012). He and his wife, Deb Speyer, met at the URJ Eisner Camp as teenagers and have a second home in the Berkshires.
