Rimon will offer a kabbalistic seder to celebrate the holiday of Tu B’Shevat. Tu b’Shevat celebrates and honors the special gifts of trees. It is also known as the New Year of Trees because in Israel, it is the time when the trees begin to emerge from their winter sleep and burst into flower. The 16th century kabbalist Rabbi Isaac Luria of Safed introduced the mystical Tu b’Shevat seder in which a variety of fruits and nuts are shared along with four glasses of wine. The fruits - from those with tough outer skins like pomegranates, to those with soft flesh but hard inner cores like apricots and finally to those that are completely edible such as grapes and figs – represent aspects of the human condition. Through music, learning, blessing and eating mindfully, participants will partake in a spiritual journey through the senses. The ritual seder will be followed by a vegetarian potluck dinner. Please bring a vegetarian dish to share with the everyone. To help defray the costs of this program, there will be a fee of $10 per person. RSVP is required. Please contact info@rimonberkshires.org or call 413.274.1034. Everyone is welcome.
