Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, having been convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage, were executed as traitors in June 1953.. Their execution was and still is controversial: to some the Rosenberg’s were traitors and to others martyrs. Were they guilty of spying for the Soviet Union? Did they deserve the death penalty?
