Over the course of six sessions, poet and Rabbi Pam Wax will introduce the poetry of Yehuda Amichai for contemplation and conversation. Each session will be devoted to one or more themes that Amichai addressed in his poetry, including: War and Peace; Memory/Parents; the Jewish Bible; Prayer, God, Jewish ritual; Jerusalem; Love and sex. Though the poems will be read and discussed in English, the issue of translation will necessarily be addressed. Poems will be available in Hebrew for those who request them a week ahead of each session. Additionally, optional take-home exercises will be offered for those who would like to write their own poetry. Sessions meet for 6 Wednesdays July 9-August 13—come to one session or all six. $36 for the series for non-members, or $10 per session; free for members of KI and TAA . Rabbi Pam Wax is the author of two books of poetry, "Walking the Labyrinth" and "Starter Mothers" and the forthcoming "Chewing the Remembrances." She is the Director of Adult Education and Programming at Congregation Knesset Israel.
