This is event 2 of a three-part series. You do not have to attend all programs.
From the moment Moses, Aaron and Miriam stood at the shores of the Red Sea and sang out, song and poetry have been a core form of expression for our people. In this three part series, we’ll explore the poetry and song that have emerged in the land of Israel from the early state period, until today, with a special focus on work that has emerged since 10/7 during the final class. From Yehuda Amichai and Lea Goldberg, to Sami Shalom Chetri and Ayat Abou Shmeiss, our exploration will include voices from both within and outside of the traditional canon, including women, Israeli Arab and Mizrachi poets and songwriters.
Each week, Rabbi Gordon will provide materials in English translation. This class will be an in-person experience only.
