Ramblin’ with the Rav hikes feature a morning of enjoying our beautiful neighborhood - exercise, a beautiful view, good company, a bit of Torah, and fantastic conversation on the trail. This is a wonderful opportunity to build relationships and community while enjoying the outdoors. Rabbi Weiner leads the hikes, which typically take place on select Wednesday and Sunday mornings in the warmer months of the year. Every route is unique. Please note the difficulty, distance, total elevation gain and approximate time of each hike. Driving time is not included. Be responsible and realistic regarding your fitness and stamina. All hikes are potentially family-friendly; all but one welcome leashed dogs as well. In the summer, some include an opportunity for wading or swimming, at participants’ risk. Members and non-members of KI are welcome. Prospective participants must register in advance for each hike at www.knessetisrael.org/rsvp. Registrants will receive information about the demands of the route, what to wear, what to bring, where to meet, etc…, and be added to an email list for communication before the hike. Poor weather may lead to a postponement to the rain date, usually communicated the day before, and low RSVP numbers may cause a cancellation a day or two in advance. Questions? Please contact Rabbi Weiner by email at rabbiweiner@outlook.com. Weds., May 15 - Kinderhook Creek Preserve, East Nassau, NY
Moderate, 3-4 miles with some short steep slopes, 400’, 1.5-2.5 hours
Lots of trails crisscross this small preserve that protects a series of wooded ridges parallel to scenic Kinderhook Creek. We will wander the ridges, enjoy the overlooks, and, depending on the preferences of participants, and climb and descend the short, steep ridges by a variety of routes. Leashed dogs are welcome.
Rain date - Weds, May 22
Meet at KI at 9 a.m. to carpool. The trailhead has a very small parking lot.
