Zionism and American Reform Jews from 1885 to the Present

This program will examine the evolution of the place of Zionism in American Reform Judaism. The focus will be to simultaneously look at the impact that Zionism has had upon American Reform Judaism, and the impact that Reform Jews have continued to have upon Zionism and the State of Israel. The text we will study are the four Statements of Principles of Reform Judaism.
Rabbi Borovitz is the Rabbi Emeritus of Temple Avodat Shalom in River Edge after serving for 25 years. He currently serves on the National Board of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, the Rabbinic cabinet of the Jewish Federations of North America, the Foundation Board of Bergen Regional Medical Center, and is a frequent contributor to The Jewish Standard, The Times of Israel, and The Bergen Record. Rabbi Borovitz and his wife Ann Appelbaum are members of Hevreh and are active participants in the Berkshire Minyan.
