JEWISH FOOD SHABBAT AT CBI

Do you have a favorite Jewish recipe or a tasty memory from your childhood? North Adams’ Congregation Beth Israel is hosting a Jewish Food Shabbat October 27th to celebrate the amazing diversity of Jewish cuisine with a Potluck dinner as part of our Shabbat service.

“Jewish Cuisine” features Darra Goldstein, award-winning author of international cookbooks, who will discuss how Jewish food evolved, and how our cuisine reflects the places Jews have settled.   She is Professor Emerita of Russian at Williams College and founding editor of Gastronomica: The Journal of Food and Culture.

At the heart of the program will be the favorite dairy and vegetarian specialties that CBI members bring to the 5:45 potluck Shabbat dinner that kicks off this event.  A 7:00 pm Shabbat service will be followed by an informal presentation and discussion led by Darra Goldstein.

There is no charge and everyone is welcome, regardless of whether you bring a dish.  If, however, you wish to do so, we’d be delighted! In any case, do please RSVP, so we can know how many people to expect.

Please email your RSVP to Jack Hockridge cbinadams@gmail.com no later than OCTOBER 2, 2017.

This program is the work of CBI's Speakers Committee.
