Following brunch, Judaica artist Fran Addison will share a visual presentation of Jewish ritual objects, discussing major holidays and celebrations and the ceremonial objects used in accordance with them. She will enlighten us about superstitions, religious requirements, Christian influences, as well as the artistic influence of the countries in which the ritual objects were created. In addition to being introduced to Frann’s own work, we will see ritual objects created by other contemporary Jewish metalsmiths.

Frann Addison combines her metalsmithing skills with her artistic vision, often transforming found objects and antique elements into unique pieces of Judaica.  Her work acknowledges the past, yet offers new and unusual forms which satisfy the demands of religious requirements.  Through hand forming, piercing, soldering, and/or riveting, she creates her one-of-a-kind and limited edition ceremonial pieces.
