The Jewish Federation Connecting with Community presents "Turkish Kurdistan" with Chris Andersen.  Andersen had the rare and transformative opportunity to live in Turkey as a young teen with his family.

It was 1954 and Turkish Kurdistan was neither the territory nor the culture that was embraced by Turkish nationals.  Chris found a way to discover this rich and hidden culture of the Kurds and experienced self-discovery.

He will share the risks and the adventures that drove him.  Later in life, he served as Captain in the Army. In civilian life, he worked in hospital ERs and ORs from Arizona to New Hampshire and with patients at the Northampton State Hopsital.  In the Berkshires, Chris has opened his home working with children through specialized foster care while raising his own family.

This free program is part of the Federation’s Connecting With Community Series and will be followed by a kosher hot lunch. Lunch is a $2 suggested donation for adults over 60 years of age or $7 for all others. Advance reservations are required for lunch and can be made by calling (413) 442-2200 before 9 a.m. on the day of the program.
