Hadassah Northeast is hosting an Advocacy Conference November 14-15, 2015, designed to inspire and empower women of all ages to take action in the areas of their lives that matter most to them. Topics covered will include human trafficking, gender equity in medicine, affordable child care, women’s preventative health education, action for Israel, and more. The conference will run Saturday evening through Sunday afternoon at the Jewish Federation in Albany, NY.

Guest speakers will include Congressman Paul Tonko (representative from New York’s 20th District), Hadassah National CEO Janice Weinman, and head of Hadassah’s 50 State Advocacy Network Pennie Branden. In addition, panelists will include Susan Howards, an attorney from Massachusetts who litigates trafficking cases, and Gonzolo Martinez of the Worker Justice Center and coordinator for the North Country and Capital Region Human Trafficking Task Forces. The panel will be moderated by Hadassah National Board member, Carol Goodman Kaufman, who is also author of the book, “Sins of Omission: The Jewish Community’s Reaction to Domestic Violence.”

Saturday evening’s program will focus on the broad scope of Hadassah advocacy efforts. Sunday’s agenda includes a panel on human trafficking, sessions on prioritizing Hadassah advocacy issues, and development of talking points and action plans.

Nursing Continuing Education (CE) credits have been applied for through Hadassah Nurses’ Councils CE Program.

WHEN: The conference will run November 14-15, 2015, Saturday evening (5:30 – 9:30 p.m.) through Sunday afternoon (8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.).
COST: $75 for Hadassah members, $85 for non-members; includes a light meal on Saturday evening, lunch on Sunday and refreshments. In addition, Hadassah will provide an annual membership through the gifting program to non-members who attend.
