Annual Family Chanukah Festival
A family-friendly Chanukah celebration, highlighted by a public menorah kindling of the holiday’s 6th candle.
The free program, sponsored by Chabad of the Berkshires and the Jewish Federation of the Berkshires, is open to the public and includes live music, face painting, crafts, latkes, donuts, chocolate gelt and a magnificent show.
Chanukah, a celebration of freedom, is highlighted by the kindling of the menorah each night of the holiday. "It is a holiday that enriches our lives with the light of tradition," said Rabbi Levi Volovik, director of Chabad of the Berkshires. "In ancient times our ancestors rededicated the Temple in Jerusalem with the Menorah. Today, we rededicate ourselves to making this world a better and brighter place."
“The Festival of Lights brings back fond memories of childhood and serves to renew a sense of identity,” Volovik adds. “The Chanukah lights provide warmth, joy, strength and inspiration, which we hope to share with the entire community.”
