Ramblin’ with the Rav hikes feature a morning of enjoying our beautiful neighborhood - exercise, a beautiful view, good company, a bit of Torah, and fantastic conversation on the trail. This is a wonderful opportunity to build relationships and community while enjoying the outdoors. Rabbi Weiner leads the hikes, which typically take place on select Wednesday and Sunday mornings in the warmer months of the year. Every route is unique. Please note the difficulty, distance, total elevation gain and approximate time of each hike. Driving time is not included. Be responsible and realistic regarding your fitness and stamina. All hikes are potentially family-friendly; all but one welcome leashed dogs as well. In the summer, some include an opportunity for wading or swimming, at participants’ risk. Members and non-members of KI are welcome. Prospective participants must register in advance for each hike at www.knessetisrael.org/rsvp. Registrants will receive information about the demands of the route, what to wear, what to bring, where to meet, etc…, and be added to an email list for communication before the hike. Poor weather may lead to a postponement to the rain date, usually communicated the day before, and low RSVP numbers may cause a cancellation a day or two in advance. Questions? Please contact Rabbi Weiner by email at rabbiweiner@outlook.com. Weds, July 10- Warner Hill, then north towards Dalton
Moderate, 4 miles (one way), 500’, 2 hours OR 5.5 miles (one way), 625’, 2.5-3 hours
Every time we drive east on Williams Street, we look out towards the ridge behind Dalton Division Rd, but how often do we walk on it and look back towards Pittsfield and Mt. Greylock? The Appalachian Trail climbs north from Blotz Rd (near Sackett Reservoir) to Warner Hill, where there is a great view, then continues through the forest, descending towards Dalton. None of the climbs exceed 300’, but the route includes a lot of downhill hiking. Leashed dogs are welcome.
Before we set out, we will decide whether we’ll stop hiking at Grange Hall Rd. or continue to downtown Dalton.
Meet at KI at 9 a.m. to decide on an endpoint, shuttle cars there, then drive to the trailhead.
Rain date Weds, July 17
